If you told the guy that you can't get to his car till July for whatever reason, then towed his car elsewhere on your dime so you could still finish it in time, a rational person would not call the police. Even a fairly irrational person would not. Did you tell him *after* you had the car towed? Are you not telling him where it was towed to/currently is? The injector thing is kind of both your faults. If you met the seller there specifically so you could look at it with the guy, you should have noticed the discrepancy. Yeah, the seller's bad for saying it has them, but as a buyer/aid to the buyer, it was kind of your responsibility to double check all that.
